Child Abuse

This is going to be one of my more…. rant-like blogs, so be prepared. I have pondered the title. But have stuck with this because, as you will read. It sums it up perfectly.
In this blog, I am talking about parents who abuse their children through nutrition. One of the least recognised forms of child abuse there is. Why? Because it is not PC to say such a thing. But the truth of the matter is that it is rife. Maybe more so than some other, more recognised forms of abuse out there.
The big problem here is that it is not recognised in any way, shape, or form. That is to say, neither officially nor by the parents in general. As can clearly be seen by the growing numbers of highly overweight young children that you see around the place, and is reflected in statistics, if you wish to look into such things. A quick one for you is that 25-33% of children in Britain, from boys to girls, are currently overweight, obese(insert other term here). Personally, I prefer to observe life rather than check statistics. But I did that one just for you guys reading this 😉
Now. As a parent myself, I consider the nutrition of my children of the highest priority. Not for weight. That takes care of itself with the correct energy balance, outside of special circumstances. For me, it is a health issue. As human beings, we require good nutrition to function, not just optimally, but at a decent level of living. To cast that aside for the sake of what you may consider ‘easiness’ is to be ignorant to your child’s well being. You are literally poisoning them! Then you place the responsibility on an establishment(medical) that is not nearly as well equipped to deal with it as you the parent are equipped to. That is the fact of the matter. So, you are abusing your child. They are in no position to guide themselves in nutrition, amongst other things. Ever seen Home Alone? They would consume crap until they fell over.
This brings me to my next point. The market of nutrition. Yes, I admit. The pitfalls of the modern world of food are many. But that is no excuse, as with most things these days. If you do not put some effort into it. You will never know. And the knowing is really quite simple. Its not rocket surgery 🙂 It only takes a little, sometimes a lot of effort to set them upon a maintainable path to continued good health. If you wanted an easy ride. You should have worn a condom, got a cat. Kids are a life endeavour, one of the greatest there is. Undoubtedly one of the most enriching, even to the most devout follower of (insert deity).
I’m going to wrap this up as if you follow my blogs you will know, I prefer to keep them as short and to the point as possible. There is much more I could add but, my point has been made. To neglect your child’s nutrition. Be lazy on a regular basis with it….. That, my friend’s, is child abuse. I don’t do PC. I call it how it is. That IS how it is. YOU are old enough to know better. They are not. Shimples.
I hope you enjoyed this blog. If not, you may be ignorant
.
Take care folks
